Thank you to all who attended the Society Matters Foundation Launch Event!

On Monday 24th March, business leaders and change-makers from across the region gathered at St James’ Park to launch Society Matters Foundation. The event brought together voices from across sectors to explore how progressive policy can unlock the potential of the North of England and its people.

We’re now excited to announce our second event:

Generation 2035: Exploring barriers to success

Tuesday 7th October | 09:00–13:00 | Gateshead College, Baltic Campus

This half-day event is for those who work within, plan, and fund all forms of education – from primary to tertiary, adult learning, apprenticeships, and vocational pathways.

You’ll hear TED-style thought pieces from leading voices in education and policy, followed by sprint-style discussions focused on breaking down the barriers that prevent young people from progressing. The insights gathered will shape future Society Matters Foundation projects.

Speakers include:

  • Adrian Dougherty, North East Combined Authority
  • Sir David Bell KCB DL, University of Sunderland
  • David Alexander, Gateshead College
  • Katrina Morley & Sean Harris, Tees Valley Education
  • Suzanne Slater, NCFE
  • Students from Northumberland College, New College Durham & Gateshead College

Spaces are limited – register your interest below!

We anticipate this event will be over-subscribed. You’ll be notified by email by Tuesday 9th September if you’ve secured a place.
